which is the estimated halfway point of his Meet Me Halfway walk to Phoenix, Arizona for homeless teens. Jimmy tweeted, “I cannot believe I’ve walked to Texas from Nashville.” His walk has been made a bit easier by lightening his load a bit. Wayne said, “Since I’ve stopped wearing my backpack, I’ve been able to pick up my [walking] pace. I’ve felt my knees and my back get sore out here on the road, but the key for me has been stretching, wearing the right shoes, and drinking a lot of water. I’m making sure I take stretch breaks throughout the day, because my hamstrings have a tendency to tighten up. You know, in hindsight, I don’t know if there is a way you can train for something like this. I didn’t. I’ve just always been really active and I felt like I could pull it off.”

Jimmy continues to receive some very special gifts on his journey. He explains to AOL’s The Boot, “People are giving me crosses every day now because I mentioned it one time in my tweet that I wanted to take the cross that I was wearing and give it to one of the kids there in Phoenix when I see them. The next day, and every day since then, I get crosses from my fans who come out to support project Meet Me Halfway. It’s turned into quite a cross collection now out on the road. I got 28 crosses today.” He says it’s cool he is swamped with cross necklaces, but he can’t wear them all or he’d “look like Mr. T!” Wayne expects to arrive in Phoenix sometime in May or June.

Fox has reportedly approached Conan O’Brien about hosting American Idol’s annual charity special, “Idol Gives Back,” on April 21st. Wouldn’t that be neat?

The two sides are reportedly still in talks about Conan starring in a late-night show for the network, but word is, Fox has already reached out to NBC to see if Conan hosting “Idol Gives Back” would violate the terms of his Tonight Show settlement.

Turns out (unfortunately for Fox, and the rest of us), NBC said it would — the settlement prohibits Conan from appearing on TV until September. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

The people have spoken, and this story makes me smile! :-)   It’s official:  Betty White will be on Saturday Night Live, and America can’t get enough of her!

She’s making appearances on talk shows, and now there are reports that if you want to be in the studio audience for her SNL stint, well… good  luck with that!  According to Popeater.com, “so many people in the business — including Sandra Bullock – have already put in their ticket requests that it’s going to be next to impossible to get tickets to the show… One person lucky enough to be sitting in the audience is the man behind the whole Facebook campaign that got Betty the gig, David Matthews.”

Popeater also reveals that Betty has joked about wanting to do a Sex and the City spoof.  Could be pretty hilarious!  We’ll see just what crazy sketches the show comes up with.  Betty’s episode will be May 8th, during  the weekend of Mother’s Day.  How cool is that?!

Wow! THANK YOU to all who watched and were able to donate to “The Kansas City Pet Telethon” Sunday night! Proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Greater Kansas City.

Blake and I did some co-hosting during the final hour of the event. When we left the TV studio, donations were still pouring in, but at last check it was over $168,000! The Kansas City area is so generous!

The Humane Society of Greater Kansas City is supported entirely through private donations and relies heavily on the generosity of animal lovers in the community. Help is needed throughout the year.

If you’d like to learn how you can donate, adopt a pet and/or volunteer with the Humane Society of Greater KC, there’s lots of great info on their website!
